121 lessons - Working Test training

One to One lessons

Training with Care

Receive a structured lesson so you are equipped with the tools to progress with your dog. When booking the lesson please let me know what stage your dog is at and what you would like to concentrate on. Currently 121's are conducted in the SP9-SP11 area and are for up to 90mins.

Group Lessons, Group classes

Classes: Foundation

Dog must be able to recall by name

(covered in Puppy). There is a maximum of six handlers on this course.

This course covers:

The building blocks for all your future gundog training covering Heelwork, Steadiness, Recall to whistle, intro to the stop whistle, different types of retrieves covered, introduction to directional retrieves and early stages of hunting. - All conducted in a no pressure environment.

By the end of the six weeks (if you put the home work in) your dog should be able to walk on lead to heel and have some ability off lead, recall in and around other dogs. Should understand the concept of directions and the Stop whistle. Be able to Retrieve a short Marked retrieve, be able to retrieve a memory blind and remain steady around other dogs whilst they work. 

Classes: Intermediate (1&2) 

Must be able to complete Foundation tasks. Course is limited to six handlers so everyone gains from the time available.

Different types of retrieves. Steadiness to dummies and other dogs. How the wind affects, runout and hunting, Introduction to multiple retrieves on the ground, Introduction to shot and introduction to multiple dog walked up. Whistle work, increasing the distance on memory blinds, blinds to shot and marked retrieves. Handling at distance and proofing all areas of dog control.

By the end of the six weeks (homework dependent) you and your dog should be able to walk off lead, handle to a variety of retrieves from static and walked up scenarios.

Lessons for gundogs, Labrador training
How to win a Working test or Field trial

Classes: Advanced 

Should be able to complete all Intermediate tasks - Limited to six handlers

Adding the polish to enable you to take your dog into the shooting field or to get you both to competition level should you wish to take this route. Course involves increasingly difficult retrieves and giving you both the tools for future success.

By the end of the course your dog should have good off lead heelwork, sit, stay, recall and deliver to hand and remain totally steady. Good level of Gundog work including retrieves over long distance and obstacles for breed, culminating in blinds to no shot.

Group Training

Ready. Set. Educate.

If you prefer to train with a group of friends or in a group scenario, I can accommodate you but prefer to limit the group to six. This will ensure you gain the best value during your training.

Group training is conducted at Dinton just outside of Salisbury and Hawstead Farm just outside of Hursley.

 

Groups can be either half or full days so all handlers get benefit out of the session, please call or email to discuss your requirements.
